2025 COTSWOLD GLIDING COMPETITION Dear Neighbour, In recent years we have hosted the Regional and National Gliding Competition at Aston Down and we are writing to let you know about our planned event this summer: Junior National Championships & Cotswold Regional Championships 16th – 24th August The Junior Nationals is specifically for young pilots aged 25 and under. Pilots compete to fly the fastest and furthest across a range of distance racing tasks. If the weather is suitable, long distances and high speeds will be achieved, which is highly desirable for competitors. There is additional information on our website at cotswoldcomps.co.uk. During the event, there will inevitably be extra traffic on the approach road to the eastern airfield entrance. However, we have written to the competitors and participants, and stressed that they must drive slowly along the approach road, and we will remind them again during our daily briefings. As regards the actual flying, the tow plane pilots will be briefed each day on the tow out patterns, with the objective of avoiding, as far as possible, the nearby villages of Cherington, Avening and Frampton Mansell, and also avoiding overflying any houses, especially at low level during their circuit to land.
